You will still see resumes that have the words Resume, Curriculum Vitae or CV as their title in big bold letters. I don't want to sound rude but most people should understand that they are reading a resume.
If you read articles that discuss what Hiring Managers are looking for most want a resume presented to them that is at most two pages in length. When you add the title like "Resume" you are taking up valuable space that could be used to show a potential employer your skills or talents that are related to the job.
When you post a resume on Monster or Workopolis for example, they ask you for a title for your resume. Yes, people do put "Resume" as the title. The problem with that is if employers are searching the resume database the keywords they use will be based on the type of job they are trying to find candidates for like Inventory Manager, Customer Service Specialist or Retail Sales.
How many people will search that database using the keyword "Resume". My guess, not many. Give your resume a title that will allow it to be found. Employers are searching sites like Monster and Workopolis everyday looking for potential candidates.
Responsible For - Duties Include
Using the words "responsible for" or "duties include" do not show an employer what you actually accomplished. Think of it this way. Let's say that 5 people who do the exact same job at Company A decide to apply for a job that is posted at Company B. If all 5 list what they were responsible for or the duties they had what would you see? 5 generic and very similar resumes that don't stand out or set you apart from other candidates.
Use more impactful words like "Orchestrated", "Developed", "Planned and Implemented", "Increased Sales", "Created". This shows Hiring Managers what you have done and what you can contribute to their organization.
Strong Work Ethic - Hard Working - Motivated - Detail-oriented - Self-starter - Dependable - Loyal
Think about the opposite words to the phrases mentioned above. Lazy - Lazy - Unmotivated - Sloppy - Needs Direction All the Time - Can't be Relied On. The point I am making is that it is pretty much expected that you will be dependable, motivated, hard working, a self starter and on and on.
Again, show people the actual things you did that show for example, how you are a self-starter. I developed a system for tracking and ordering ice cream after I noticed we were consistently out of core products. Now you have my attention.

You don't need to tell someone you have references. It is expected that you have references and that you can provide them when required. Use the space this phrase is taking up on your resume to promote yourself.
Show Me Who You Are and What You Can Do For Me
Your resume is a document that shows a prospective employer what you can do for them and gives them an insight into who you are.
You need to provide the employer with examples of things that you have done or accomplished that fits with what they are looking for in an employee. You need to sell yourself.
